Walton County School District Receives A District Grade for 8^th Consecutive Year

WCSD Ranks Among Top 4 Districts in the State of Florida for School Grades

The Florida Department of Education recently released school and district grades for the 2023-2024 school year. The Walton County School District has again secured an A grade for the district. This ranking marks the seventh consecutive year WCSD has been ranked an A district. Walton County is one of only 22 districts in the State of Florida to receive an A grade and is among the top 4 districts for grades statewide based on the number of points acquired.

The Florida Department of Education bases school grades on a points system comprised of achievement and learning gains components, middle school acceleration, graduation rate, and college and career acceleration. Walton County, as a whole, garnered 70% of available points and has increased in performance in all components since 2022. The 2023-2024 school year marked the first year with learning gains calculations based on the state’s new F.A.S.T. Assessment and BEST standards.

Superintendent A. Russell Hughes remarked “I am in continual awe of the hard work, tenacity, and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and community. We are leading the state in many areas, and have identified the areas that need some work to ensure every student in Walton County receives a world-class education.
