Message from Superintendent Hughes (5/3/21)
We want to thank all of our Innovative Learning Digital Academy (ILDA) parents and students for an EPIC 2020-2021 school year. We applaud your efforts (as well as our teachers and schools) for transitioning to this new digital platform with ease and grace.
During this school year, the Walton County School District (WCSD) has been able to collect COVID-19 data which allows us to make the best decisions for our students and the future. Below is a table of our most recent data with a new column added to give you a perspective of overall COVID-19 and quarantine percentages. To calculate percentages, we divided by our overall number of students and employees which is a system of approximately 15,000 people.
|COVID-19 Statistics||Latest Data (4/26/21)||Overall Data to Date Actual Numbers (8/17-4/26)||Overall Data to Date Percentages (8/17-4/26)|
|Positive COVID-19 Cases of School District Students and/or Employees||0||505||4%|
|Quarantined Due to On-Campus Exposure of School District Students and/or Employees||0||1004||8%|
|Quarantined Due to Off-Campus Exposure (Community/Family Exposure) of School District Students and/or Employees||11||824||6%|
Due to our overall low number of cases for the school year as well as the development of a vaccination, the WCSD is announcing two learning options for students for the 2021-2022 school year: brick and mortar school and Walton Virtual School.
In order to make the best decision for your family, please feel free to review our district's COVID-19 safety plan as well as information on Walton Virtual School. Your child's school will also be a resource if you have additional questions or concerns.
If your child will return to brick and mortar, there is no additonal work for you to do (registration wise); however, you will want to indicate your physical return to brick and mortar so schools can plany for your child's 2021-2022 schedule. Please indicate your return to brick and mortar schools [as soon as possible]. If you choose to transfer to Walton Virtual School, you need to email [email protected]
Thank you again for a great year, and we hope that next year continues to be even greater for our students and your family!
A. Russell Hughes, Superintendent of Schools
